Milwaukee, WI – Tonight, a twice impeached convicted felon with the worst record in history on protecting clean air, clean water, and combating the climate crisis accepted the Republican nomination for president.

In response, Sierra Club Political Director Sarah Burton released the following statement:

“Noun, verb, platitude spreading lies and fear mongering. This is how Donald Trump and his cronies spent this past week. It was not a sign of strength. It was not a sign of leadership. It was a sign of cowardice. Cowardice knowing Trump does not have a single policy to help the American people. Cowardice knowing Trump will only serve corporate polluters and billionaires. Cowardice knowing Trump will sell out the hundreds of thousands of American jobs the Biden-Harris Administration have created thanks to their landmark Inflation Reduction Act.

“Donald Trump is the worst president ever for clean air and water, having fought to roll back more than 100 environmental rules. He is a climate denier. He offered to sell out our collective future for $1 billion to oil CEOs as some cheap Dr. Evil knockoff. And he’s a twice impeached convicted felon who incited a violent insurrection in an attempt to overthrow a free and fair election.

“Donald Trump is unfit to serve as president.”
