Washington, DC - Today, environmental and public health groups moved to intervene to defend the Environmental Protection Agency’s final standards for light-duty cars and trucks.
Intervening environmental organizations include Sierra Club, Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, American Lung Association, American Public Health Association, Appalachian Mountain Club, Center for Biological Diversity, Clean Air Council, Conservation Law Foundation, Environmental Defense Fund, Environmental Law & Policy Center, National Parks Conservation Association, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Public Citizen.
In response to the motion to intervene filed today, Sierra Club Senior Attorney Joshua Berman said:
“We’re ready and proud to defend the EPA’s clean car standards, which will slash climate pollution, save families money, and give car buyers more choice.
“This common-sense action by the EPA tackles our nation’s most polluting sector – transportation. The Clean Air Act mandates that EPA protect human health and the environment from harmful vehicle pollution, and EPA acted well within its authority when it finalized these climate and clean air safeguards.”
