TENNESSEE -- Last night, concerned community members, Sierra Club, and Appalachian Voices came together to learn more about the Kingston plant replacement. They went over how it will affect the local community, and wrote public comments to the Tennessee Valley Authority. Experts and community leaders presented issues of clean air, reliable power, and more jobs.

In response, community members said,

"TVA needs to do its part in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.  TVA, as one of America's largest producers of electric power, needs to lead the industry in switching to electric power generated by clean, fossil fuel free power. " - Richard Shaffer, SAGE TN

"TVA maintains there would be significant upfront costs to renewables. That's a weak argument that locks us into decades of fossil fuels. Renewables will help us get to net zero faster." - Joe Franklin, Johnson City, TN
