WASHINGTON, D.C. – Across the United States, Jewish communities have been advised to be on alert as neo-Nazis and hate groups have declared today, Feb. 25, to be a “day of hate.”

In response, incoming Sierra Club Executive Director Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“We are outraged and sickened by the neo-nazis declaration that today be a day of hate to specifically target the Jewish community. This can not stand. The Sierra Club remains steadfast in our commitment to create a welcoming and just society for all Americans. Whether you are a member of the Jewish community or not, we must all understand that this type of hate against any community is a threat to the humanity of all communities. Instead of today, or any day being about hate, let us all recommit ourselves to building a world rooted in mutual love and respect from which we can build the coalitions necessary for a welcoming society where every community can thrive.”
