Washington, DC — El Presidente Biden dio anoche su Discurso del Estado de la Nación.
Como respuesta, el director ejecutivo del Sierra Club, Ben Jealous, emitió la siguiente declaración:
“El Presidente Biden tiene toda la razón: él y el Congreso tienen que acabar la tarea.
“Hace solo dos años, el Sierra Club y la comunidad ambiental y progresista crearon la oportunidad de actuar audaz y urgentemente sobre el clima, para proteger la limpieza del aire y agua, y para ofrecer oportunidades a todos y cada uno de nosotros. Escuchando al Presidente Biden, a todos nos recordó el progreso histórico logrado para fomentar una economía más verde y reducir el efecto del cambio climático de manera que asegure más justicia racial y económica que nos lleve a una planeta más seguro y vivible.
“Pero la tarea no está acabada.
“Los millones de miembros y seguidores del Sierra Club están comprometidos a acabar esta tarea en lo referente a la acción climática, justicia ambiental, y protección de la vida silvestre y los parajes naturales. Estamos comprometidos a acabar la tarea para que nadie, ninguna familia, ninguna comunidad siga bajo el yugo de la pobreza. Estamos comprometidos a acabar la tarea para asegurar un planeta vivible y un futuro saludable para todos y cada uno de nosotros. Todos compartimos esta responsabilidad, y el Sierra Club y nuestro movimiento continuaremos usando todos nuestros recursos para asegurarnos de que el Presidente Biden y el Congreso usen los suyos para completar la tarea”.

Sierra Club Response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address
Washington, DC – Last night, President Biden delivered his second State of the Union address.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Ben Jealous released the following statement:
“President Biden is absolutely right: he and Congress must finish the job.
“Just over two years ago, the Sierra Club and the broader environmental and progressive community created the opportunity for bold and necessary action on climate, for protecting our clean air and water, and for leveling the playing field for each and every one of us. And listening to President Biden, everyone was reminded of the historic progress made to grow a greener economy and reduce the effect of climate change in ways that ensure greater racial and economic justice and can lead to a safer, more livable planet.
“But the job is not finished, and neither President Biden nor Congress can rest on their laurels.
“The Sierra Club’s millions of members and supporters are committed to finishing the job on climate action, on environmental justice, and protecting wildlife and wild places. We’re committed to finishing the job so no person, no family, and no community continues to be besieged by the clutch of poverty. And we’re committed to finishing the job to ensure a livable planet and a healthy future for each and every one of us. We all share this responsibility, and the Sierra Club and our movement will continue to use every tool at our disposal to ensure President Biden and Congress use all of theirs to finish the job.”
