Washington, DC — La bancada demócrata de la Cámara de Representantes eligió hoy a Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) como su líder de la minoría para el 118 Congreso. Jeffries ha servido en el Congreso desde 2012 y será el primer líder parlamentario negro.
La Representante Katherine Clark (D-MA) será la jefa de disciplina y el Representante Pete Aguilar (D-CA), director del Partido Demócrata.
Como respuesta, Ramón Cruz, presidente del Sierra Club, emitió la siguiente declaración:

Sierra Club Welcomes Representative Jeffries As House Minority Leader
WASHINGTON, DC -- Today, House Democrats elected Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) as Minority Leader for the upcoming 118th Congress. Rep. Jeffries has served in Congress since 2012 and will be the first Black party leader in Congress.
Representative Katherine Clark (D-MA) was elected whip, and Representative Pete Aguilar (D-CA) was elected chair of the Democratic party caucus.
In response, Ramón Cruz, Sierra Club President and constituent of Representative Jeffries, released the following statement:
“On behalf of the Sierra Club and our millions of members and supporters, we celebrate this historic election and we welcome Representative Jeffries as the new House Minority Leader. Rep. Jeffries has been a progressive champion and I’m proud to have him representing my district in Congress.
