This week, Sierra Club’s Military Outdoors program will be featured on the latest episode of Tango Alpha Lima – a popular podcast produced by The American Legion. The American Legion is a nonprofit veterans organization with nearly 2 million members, first chartered in 1919. The podcast is a lot newer, launching on April 1, 2020, but already reaches the legion’s membership of millions of veterans as it explores current events, trends and stories of interest as they relate to the military community.
Military Outdoors has been connecting veterans with nature for 15 years and is one of the leading veterans outdoors programs. Military Outdoors Campaign Manager Aaron Leonard was interviewed for Tango Alpha Lima’s 122nd episode. Among the topics covered were nationwide efforts to expand veterans' access to nature, a critical adjunct therapy for veterans recovering from service-related trauma. The Outdoor Rx Coalition and Department of Veterans Affairs Task Force on Outdoor Recreation for Veterans were highlighted as well as the Veterans in Parks pass.
