Washington, DC – Today, the American Petroleum Institute (API) released a new 10-point plan laying out policy demands for expanded oil and gas production in response to current high fossil fuel prices and geopolitical instability.
In response, Sierra Club Senior Director of Energy Campaigns Kelly Sheehan released the following statement:
“It’s no surprise that oil and gas lobbyists think the solution to all of our problems is more drilling for oil and gas. Decisionmakers shouldn’t be fooled by the fossil fuel industry’s attempt to capitalize on current crises for their own financial gain. The truth is that the current geopolitical turmoil and high energy prices underscore the urgent need to rapidly transition to a secure, clean energy economy, not double down on risky, volatile fossil fuels.”
