Nuevos Estándares de Estaciones de Recarga para Vehículos Asegurará una Fiable y Conveniente Experiencia de Manejo

Washington, DC — Los departamento de Transporte y de Energía propusieron hoy nuevas directrices de estaciones de recarga para vehículos eléctricos (VE) que serán financiadas por la Ley Bipartidista de Infraestructura.

 

Las directrices pretenden ofrecer estaciones de recarga estandarizadas por todo el país, ayudar a los conductores a ganar confianza para viajar largas distancias y en suma acelerar la adopción de VE.

 

La administración Biden publicó una hoja de datos que delinea los estándares mínimos propuestos y una serie de anuncios de otras agencias federales, como el Servicio Nacional de Parques, que se centra en instalar cargadores en los parques, y el Departamento de Agricultura, el cual apoya la instalación de cargadores en zonas rurales. 

 

La administración presentará en breve una comisión asesora compuesta de líderes gubernamentales, partes interesadas y grandes grupos generadores de electricidad. 

 

 
“Muchos conductores de vehículos eléctricos ven viajar a nuevos destinos como un reto. Las estaciones de recarga públicas son difíciles de encontrar, su disponibilidad y funcionalidad pueden ser inciertas y el costo de la recarga puede ser un misterio. Ahora, a las compañías se les requerirá abordar estos problemas y asegurar que la conducción de VE sea fiable y conveniente.

“Las crisis de salud pública y climática que confrontamos, además de los ascendentes precios de los combustibles, requieren que hagamos una urgente transición de vehículos de combustión interna a eléctricos. Tenemos que asegurarnos de que la gran red de estaciones de recarga se construya de manera equitativa, accesible y segura, y que haga avanzar la creación de buenos empleos en este rubro.

“Mientras que vemos el avance histórico de los VE, el número de ellos en las carreteras es solo incremental. La mayoría de los fabricantes continúan invirtiendo, manufacturando y publicitando carros convencionales. Exigimos que los fabricantes prioricen los VE en lugar de los convencionales. Las inversiones de la administración Biden en estaciones de recarga y su compromiso a altos estándares ayudará a aumentar la demanda de los consumidores necesaria para cambiar el rumbo de este mercado”.

Biden Administration’s New Charging Standards Will Ensure Reliable, Convenient Electric Vehicle Driving Experience

Washington, DC - Today, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy proposed nationwide guidelines for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that will be funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
 
The guidelines aim to provide standardization for EV charging stations across the country, help EV drivers build confidence for traveling long distances, and ultimately accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
 
The Biden administration published a fact sheet that outlines the proposed minimum standards and a series of announcements from partner federal agencies such as the National Park Service, which is focused on installing EV chargers in the parks, and the US Department of Agriculture, which is supporting the installation of chargers in rural areas.
 
The administration will soon announce an advisory committee consisting of government leads, stakeholders, and major utility groups.
 
Hieu Le, Senior Campaign Representative for Sierra Club’s Clean Transportation for All Campaign, released the following statement:
 
“Many electric vehicle drivers view taking road trips or going to new destinations as a rite of passage. Public charging stations can be difficult to find, their availability and functionality can be uncertain, and the cost of charging can be a mystery. Now, companies will be required to address these issues and ensure the EV charging experience is reliable and convenient.
 
“The public health and climate crises that we face, and soaring gas prices, requires that we urgently transition from gas vehicles to electric vehicles. We must ensure that the broad charging infrastructure network is built in a way that is equitable, accessible, and safe and advances family-sustaining careers in the U.S.
 
“While we are seeing EV adoption increase at a historic pace over the past year, the number of EVs on the road is incremental. Most manufacturers continue to invest, manufacture, and publicize their gas cars. We demand that manufacturers prioritize EVs over gas cars – and the Biden administration's dedicated investment in EV charging and commitment to high quality standards will help to spur the consumer demand needed to turn the tide.”
