Nation’s Largest Grassroots Conservation Organization Praises Cortez Masto’s Strong Work Protecting the Environment and Public Health
Las Vegas, NV -- Today, the Sierra Club announced their endorsement of Nevada’s Catherine Cortez Masto for U.S. Senate. The Sierra Club endorsed Cortez Masto in her 2016 campaign as well.
“The Sierra Club is excited to announce our endorsement of Catherine Cortez Masto for Senate,” said Toiyabe Chapter Director Brian Beffort. “From fighting against turning Yucca Mountain into a nuclear waste dumping ground, to working to protect the Ruby Mountains and the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, while advancing clean energy solutions, Cortez Masto has fought on behalf of Nevadans since day one, and we’re proud to endorse her.”
Cortez Masto has boldly advocated for investments in clean, renewable energy and clean transportation, seeking to build on Nevada’s leadership in this space. She has also been a fierce advocate against any effort to revitalize Yucca Mountain as a dumping ground for nuclear waste.
“Senator Cortez Masto has long been a champion fighting on behalf of Nevadans,” said Sierra Club Political Director Sarah Burton. “She has helped lead the effort to invest in clean, renewable energy, working to cement Nevada’s position as a leader in transitioning America’s energy sources. The Sierra Club is proud to endorse her once again.”
The Sierra Club will be mobilizing its members and staff this election to support and elect endorsed candidates like Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.
