Sierra Club Mourns the Passing of John McComb

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sierra Club issued the following statement on the passing of John McComb, a longtime representative of the Sierra Club and former Legislative Director, who passed away peacefully last night. 

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of John McComb and send our deepest sentiments to his family, friends and all those who were impacted by his efforts with Sierra Club and our movement at-large. May we all move forward with the same dedication, compassion, and commitment. His memory and legacy will be everlasting.”

ABOUT JOHN:
John McComb was an unwearying, steadfast advocate for our environment. He helped pass the Alaska Lands Act of 1980 and was awarded the prestigious John Muir Award in 1987. In addition to all his great work, he has been an integral part of the campaign to protect the coastal plain of the Arctic Refuge for almost 50 years.
