WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Senator Wyden advanced the Clean Energy for America Act in the U.S. Senate Finance Committee.

Key equity, labor, and climate benchmarks ensure that these investments and incentives will create good family-sustaining jobs, tackle the climate crisis, and put us on the path to an equitable and just 100% clean energy economy.

Importantly, the bill also includes key provisions to eliminate wasteful taxpayer subsidies to the fossil fuel industry.

In response, Sierra Club Deputy Legislative Director Matthew Bearzotti released the following statement:

“The Sierra Club applauds Senator Wyden for this big, bold legislation and his leadership in moving it forward in the Senate. We urge all Senators to support this bill’s advancement with all due haste so that it is included in any infrastructure legislation that passes the Senate. The Clean Energy for America Act is landmark legislation that will tackle the climate crisis and secure a clean energy economy powered by wind, solar, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, building electrification and battery storage that works for everyone. This bill is a key pillar of moving to President Biden’s goal of 100% clean power by 2035.

“Senator Wyden has demonstrated once again that he is a cutting edge leader on clean energy policy in Congress.”
