WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. District Court for the District of Montana vacated the Trump Administration’s “anti-science” rule today, and remanded it back to the EPA. The scientific and legal community have long cast doubt on the safety and legality of the rule, which would exclude important medical research from EPA’s rulemaking process.

In response, Zachary Fabish, Senior Attorney at the Sierra Club, released the following statement:

“This is a major win for both the integrity of EPA’s rulemaking processes and the rule of law. The Trump Administration’s attempt to block peer-reviewed medical research from being used by EPA came as a shock to many in the environmental and medical community, and it was strongly denounced as a danger to the health of millions of Americans who benefit from EPA’s comprehensive rulemakings. We think the court made the right decision vacating and remanding the rule back to EPA, who we urge to replace it with strong science-based policies.”
