El Sierra Club Felicita a la Nueva Secretaria de Energía Jennifer Granholm

Washington, DC — La ex gobernadora de Michigan, Jennifer Granholm, fue confirmada por el Senado Federal como secretaria de Energía de la administración Biden.

 

 

“Queremos felicitar a la secretaria Granholm por su exitosa confirmación, y esperamos ansiosos ver cómo pone en práctica el plan del Presidente Biden de completar la transición a un 100% de energía limpia para 2035 que cree empleo y se centre en la justicia ambiental. La secretaria Granholm confronta una tarea hercúlea, pero tenemos confianza en que su experiencia y maestría la ayudarán a ser exitosa.

 

“Los próximos 10 años serán vitales para confrontar la crisis climática. Una política federal efectiva tiene que ser implementada para lograr este fin. El Departamento de Energía puede y tiene que centrarse en fomentar la energía limpia y no anclar al país en décadas de desarrollo de combustibles fósiles, como la construcción de terminales de exportación de gas fósil. El Sierra Club desea trabajar con la secretaria Granholm y su equipo para lograr verdaderas soluciones climáticas”.

Sierra Club Congratulates Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm was confirmed by the United States Senate to be Energy Secretary in the Biden Administration.   

In response, Melinda Pierce, Sierra Club’s Legislative Director, released the following statement:

“We’d like to congratulate Secretary Granholm on her successful confirmation, and we look forward to her leadership in implementing President Biden’s plan to complete our transition to 100 percent clean energy by 2035 -- creating jobs and centered in environmental justice. Secretary Granholm has a herculean task ahead of her, and we are confident that her experience and expertise make her well suited for her new role. 

“The next ten years are vital to addressing the climate crisis and effective federal policy must be put into place to give us a fighting chance. The Department of Energy can and must focus on growing clean energy, not locking the country into decades of fossil fuel development by supporting infrastructure such as LNG terminals. The Sierra Club looks forward to working with Secretary Granholm and her team to advance true climate solutions.”
