WASHINGTON, D.C. - On December 15, the news broke that President-Elect Joe Biden will select former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm to be his Secretary of Energy.
In response, John Coequyt, Sierra Club’s Global Climate Policy Director, released the following statement:
“The Sierra Club congratulates Governor Granhom for her selection to head President-Elect Biden’s Department of Energy, and look forward to working with her to secure a clean energy future for our country. Granholm has long demonstrated her climate champion credentials, consistently speaking to the future widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
“In the past, Granhom has been a climate leader both in and out of public office, and has rightly given voice to the urgency of directly addressing the climate crisis through forward looking government policy, community engagement, and reliance on science. We trust that the incoming Biden Administration will be well served by her selection.”
