The Council for Future Mobility, led by a chief mobility officer who has yet to be nominated, will make recommendations on policy and will be focused around but not limited to:

The Governor's order creating the new advisory panel will take effect on April 27 unless it is rejected by the Republican-led Senate.

In response, Tim Minotas, a Legislative and Political Coordinator with the Sierra Club’s Michigan Chapter, released the following statement:

The Sierra Club applauds Governor Whitmer for these exciting steps announced today that represent an opportunity for Michigan to continue its leadership in the automotive industry and pave the way into a clean transportation future that is good for our climate, health, wallets and workers. We look forward to continuing our work with the Governor to tackle the issue of transportation emissions, the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions, in the nation’s leading state for auto manufacturing.”
