WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, House Democrats unveiled two articles of impeachment charging Donald Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
"It is now abundantly clear, through many officials' testimony, that President Trump tried to interfere in the 2020 elections in order to help his reelection campaign. Sierra Club applauds House Democrats for their thorough process that served as the foundation of today’s release of the articles of impeachment and moving forward to protect our democracy. Trump’s corrupt acts and abuses of power threaten the legal and democratic infrastructure we use to keep our communities healthy and safe. Our clean water is at stake. Our clean air is at stake. And a safe climate is at stake. Sierra Club thanks House Democrats for taking a stand against Trump’s corrupt acts. Now we ask all of Congress to stand for free & fair elections, checks & balances, and with the Constitution and vote to impeach."
