Washington, DC — Esta noche, la Cámara de Representantes aprobó el enjuiciamiento político del Presidente Donald Trump.
Como respuesta, el director ejecutivo del Sierra Club, Michael Brune, emitió la siguiente declaración:
“Este es un solemne momento en la historia de Estados Unidos, pero el enjuiciamiento de Donald Trump fue necesario para proteger las elecciones libres y justas, el equilibrio entre poderes y la Constitución. El Sierra Club continúa apoyando por completo a la Cámara de Representantes en su enjuiciamiento del presidente.
“Si la corrupción rampante de Trump queda impune, las consecuencias serían enormes. Los cimientos de nuestra democracia están en juego, al igual que la limpieza del aire y el agua y la seguridad del clima. Si queremos proteger el medio ambiente y luchar por un planeta vivible, tenemos que tener una democracia fuerte.
“El Senado tiene ahora que cumplir con su juramento a la Constitución y con su labor de proteger la santidad de nuestra democracia y expulsar a este corrupto presidente de su puesto”.

Sierra Club Statement on Donald Trump Becoming the Third President Ever to be Impeached
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This evening, the House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
"This is a solemn moment in America’s history, but the impeachment of Donald Trump was a necessary action to protect free and fair elections, checks and balances, and the Constitution. The Sierra Club continues its full support of the House of Representatives in their impeachment of the president.
“Should Trump’s rampant corruption remain unchecked, the consequences would be enormous. The bedrock of our democracy is at stake, as is clean air, clean water, and a safe climate. If we are to protect the environment and fight for a livable planet, we must have a strong democracy.
“The Senate must now fulfill their oath to the Constitution and do their jobs of protecting the sanctity of our democracy and remove this corrupt President from office.”
