Nation’s Largest Grassroots Conservation Organization Praises Ocasio-Cortez’s Strong Commitment to Climate Action
New York, NY -- Today, the Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for New York’s 14th Congressional District.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recognizes what’s necessary to act on climate, which is why she’s proposed bold measures that would protect our health, our climate, and our communities,” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “Ocasio-Cortez’s vision is what’s needed in Congress in order to tackle the climate crisis, and the Sierra Club is proud to endorse her.”
Ocasio-Cortez has proposed a bold vision necessary in order to tackle the climate crisis. Among her proposals is completing America’s transition to clean, renewable energy by 2035 and implementing a Green New Deal to ensure a just transition that leaves no community and no person behind.
"I am honored to receive the support and endorsement of the Sierra Club,” said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “They have, for more than a century, proven to be one of the most impactful environmental organizations in the country. I am excited to partner with them in our efforts to implement a mass mobilization of our economic capacity in the form of a Green New Deal.
