LAS VEGAS, NV -- The Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club today announced its endorsement of Dina Titus for Nevada’s U.S. Congressional District 1 in the 2020 election.
“I am proud to be endorsed for re-election by the Sierra Club,” said Congresswoman Dina Titus. “I have worked with Sierra Club for years to fight against high level nuclear waste storage at Yucca Mountain and to protect our unique desert habitat. I will continue to stand up to attempts by this administration to further degrade our planet.”
"We are pleased to announce today that the Sierra Club officially endorses Dina Titus for reelection," said Tobi Tyler, Toiyabe Chapter Political Committee Chair. "We are confident that she will continue working to protect Nevada families’ health, air and water, and build a clean energy economy that works for Nevadans."
Given the current administration’s continued threats to our clean air and water and public lands, it is more important than ever to elect environmental champions like Dina Titus. From leading the fight in Congress to prevent Nevada from becoming the dumping ground for the nation’s nuclear waste to fighting for protections of our public lands, Dina Titus has voiced and acted on her commitment to the environment as witnessed by her 95% lifetime score from the League of Conservation Voters.
"We are deeply grateful to Dina Titus for her work to designate wilderness areas within the Gold Butte National Monument and to secure more than $106.8 million in funding to support 47 public lands projects throughout Nevada and the California side of the Lake Tahoe Basin," said Taj Ainlay, Chair of the Sierra Club's Southern Nevada Group. "She is a true environmental champion who will fight to protect Nevada’s clean air, clean water, our climate and natural treasures."
Along with the endorsement, the Sierra Club will lend its volunteer strength to Dina Titus's campaign.
"We pledge to do all we can to help ensure Rep. Dina Titus is reelected," said Mr. Ainlay. "Scores of Sierra Club volunteers will contact voters on her behalf and we will speak to the public as often as possible about her exemplary environmental record.
