Lisa Hoyos, Director of Sierra Club’s Climate Parents, issues the following statement:

“After hearing from nearly 1,000 Arizona parents and science supporters---as well as from local science teachers and other community leaders--the Arizona State Board of Education voted today to re-integrate accurate climate and evolutionary science into the state’s K-12 science standards. This outcome was jeopardized last month when the State Department of Education proposed removing essential rudiments of climate science from the standards.

“Climate Parents stands with the Arizona Science Teachers Association and community members who understand that a strong foundation in climate science will help Arizona students innovate the clean energy and climate solutions we are all depending on. We are thankful for the leadership of the members of the Arizona State Board of Education who stood up for students' right to clean climate science in school.”
