WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Yesterday, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler confirmed that the Trump administration will move to revoke California’s waiver under the Clean Air Act. The waiver allows the state to set stronger fuel efficiency standards. This all comes as the Trump administration moves to roll back the clean car standards for light-duty vehicles this spring.

In response, Andrew Linhardt, Deputy Advocacy Director for Sierra Club’s Clean Transportation for All campaign, released the following statement:

“In a dangerous and reckless move, the Trump administration is picking yet another fight to pollute our communities and force consumers to pay more at the pump. If Wheeler would actually do his job to protect the environment and public health, he wouldn’t be threatening to roll back our biggest national climate policy to date.”
