WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX), along with more than 222 co-sponsors, introduced a resolution to reverse Trump’s emergency declaration to build a border wall.

In response, Sierra Club Federal Policy Associate Jordan Giaconia released the following statement:

“Border communities know the only national emergency is the one Trump manufactured. Trump’s egregious emergency declaration is a blatant violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers-- and all for a destructive and racially-motivated border wall. Sierra Club thanks Representative Castro and all of the bill’s co-sponsors for being a much needed check on Trump’s abuse of power and urges members of Congress to vote for this important piece of legislation.”
