DENVER - In a blow to the health and safety of Coloradans, the Colorado Supreme Court today reversed a Court of Appeals Decision on the highly anticipated "Martinez case."

In response to today's news, Jim Alexee, Director of the Colorado Sierra Club, released the following statement:

"OiI and gas operations are dangerously encroaching on our homes, businesses and schools in Colorado, and today's disappointing decision gives the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission the go-ahead to continue putting the expansion of dangerous fracking operations over the health and safety of Coloradans.

"Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and young people have taken the lead by demanding more protections from oil and gas operations in Colorado, and the state of Colorado as well as the courts have let them down. This should be a wake up call to our state leadership to take action to reform COGCC to protect our communities and our climate."
