DETROIT, MI - Today, The Michigan Sierra Club Independent Action PAC announced a new general election mail campaign in support of Democratic candidate Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign to be Governor of Michigan.

The Michigan Sierra Club Independent Action PAC is sending two separate mailers to voters highlighting Whitmer’s strong stance on clean water, focusing on both her efforts to protect the Great Lakes, as well as ensuring that everyone in the state has access to clean drinking water.

The mailers outline Whitmer’s plan for protecting Michigan’s water, which includes replacing lead pipelines to prevent another disaster like the Flint water crisis from ever happening again, cleaning up toxic PFAS chemical contamination, limiting water withdrawals from the Great Lakes, and shutting down Enbridge’s dangerous Line 5 pipeline. The mailers will go out on October 24 and 31. (Sections of the mailers displayed here.)

“Gretchen Whitmer is the progressive champion Michigan needs to protect our drinking water and public health while standing up to Donald Trump and his attacks on clean water. Gretchen Whitmer knows that reversing the Snyder Administration’s failures to clean up our drinking water and protect our Great Lakes is priority one as Governor, period” said Mike Berkowitz, Legislative & Political Director of the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter. “Whitmer will be a governor who stands with the people of Michigan and the Great Lakes, instead of the polluters and their allies.”
