Wilmington, NC -- Donald Trump took to Twitter today in an attempt to politicize the response to Hurricane Florence. This comes days after Trump denied that 3,000 people died in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.

In response, Sierra Club North Carolina Chapter Director Molly Diggins released the following statement:

“Our thoughts continue to be with the families and communities across the Carolinas that have lost loved ones, their homes and their livelihoods due to Hurricane Florence. Everyone’s focus -- and especially Donald Trump’s -- should be solely on helping these families and communities recover, not on pre-emptive political attacks that trivialize what Carolinians have endured and must continue to endure indefinitely. Leadership, not partisanship, is what’s needed now.”
