WASHINGTON, D.C. - A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina issued a nationwide injunction today on the Trump Administration's delay of the Clean Water Rule. The decision means the Clean Water Rule is once again the law of the land in 26 states where district court judges have not stayed the rule’s clean water protections.

In response, Athan Manuel, Director for Sierra Club’s Lands Protection Program, released the following statement:

“Today’s federal injunction is a victory for communities across the country seeking access to clean drinking water. The Clean Water Rule is a landmark policy that protects the water of one in three Americans. They should not have to ‘delay’ having access to clean water so polluters can fatten their wallets. The Sierra Club and communities across the country will remain steadfast in their defense of this vital safeguard.”
