MISSOULA, Mont.— A hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in U.S. District Court on a challenge to the Trump administration’s decision to strip Endangered Species Act protection from Yellowstone’s famed grizzly bears.

Thursday’s hearing will include arguments from tribal and conservation groups in five consolidated cases challenging the June 2017 removal of protection for grizzly bears. The parties anticipate that a ruling from the bench is likely. A ruling in the plaintiffs’ favor could halt grizzly bear hunts in Idaho and Wyoming set to begin Sept. 1.

What: Hearing on challenge to Yellowstone grizzly bear delisting

When: 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30

Where: Russell Smith Courthouse, 201 E. Broadway, Missoula, Mont.
