Saint Paul, MN -- Spokespeople from across Minnesota will hold a press conference shortly after a decision is announced on the Certificate of Need for the Line 3 tar sands pipeline today by the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC).

Approval from the PUC would allow Enbridge to abandon its existing Line 3 pipeline in the ground and replace it with a new, larger pipeline, doubling the amount of dirty tar sands running through Line 3 and threatening Minnesota’s clean water and the rights of Tribal communities.

WHO: Expected speakers include:

  • Margaret Levin, Director of Sierra Club North Star Chapter

  • Winona LaDuke, Executive Director of Honor the Earth

  • Joe Plummer, Attorney for White Earth and Red Lake Bands

  • Rose Whipple, Organizer for Honor the Earth

  • James Reents, community leader with Northern Water Alliance

WHEN: Thursday, June 28 -- 15 minutes following announcement of a decision on Certificate of Need for Line 3

WHERE: Outside the Public Utilities Commission office - 121 7th Pl E #350, St Paul, MN 55101
