WASHINGTON, D.C. - Scandal ridden EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt released advanced notice of proposed rulemaking today. This step is in an effort to change how the EPA calculates the costs and benefits of its clean air and water protections - a precursor to Pruitt making it more difficult for the Agency to make strong, science-based rules to protect public health.
In response, Bill Corcoran, Regional Campaign Director of Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign, released the following statement:
“Scott Pruitt only cares about himself and the bottom lines of polluters. Instead of fighting air pollution, water pollution, and climate change, today, Pruitt decided to fight EPA’s ability to create life saving clean air and water protections. This notice of advanced rulemaking is nothing more than another effort by Pruitt to change the EPA from an agency that protects human health into one that bends the law to protect polluters. It’s shameful. Make no mistake, we will fight any attempt to weaken our current standards because of this rulemaking and will continue doing everything we can to force EPA to protect our communities from dangerous pollution.”
