Denver, CO -- Today, after Colorado Governor Hickenlooper began the process to adopt advanced clean car standards, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers -- a trade group representing Ford and other car manufacturers -- began a public campaign to undermine the effort. This comes while the Trump administration -- while coordinating with the Auto Alliance -- has been working to roll back the clean car standards. However, amid swift backlash to rolling back the standards, the Alliance has attempted to distance itself from their efforts. With the launch of this campaign, Ford and it’s trade front group has once again asserted where they stand on the clean car standards.

In response, Sierra Club Clean Transportation for All Deputy Director Andrew Linhardt released the following statement:

“Ford and the Auto Alliance can trot out new language and they can issue statement after statement but they cannot hide from the fact that they’ve worked hand-in-hand with the Trump administration to roll back the clean car standards and continue to oppose advancing the standards -- which the overwhelming majority of the public have called for. The people and science have spoken: we must protect and strengthen the clean car standards; not roll them back under pressure from the likes of Ford and other disingenuous automakers.”
