WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy sent a letter to Scott Pruitt demanding Pruitt provide all information and documents the Committee requested in mid-February related to his wasteful spending and to further include information on his sweetheart housing deals with a fossil fuel lobbyist landlord.

In the letter, Rep. Gowdy notes that Pruitt “failed to produce all the documents requested on February 20, 2018,” and goes on to specify that the EPA must send documentation related to each of Pruitt’s first or business class flights, including the waiver permitting such tickets, any reference to the “specific, ongoing threats associated with the Administrator’s air travel,” and all documents related to the lease agreement between Pruitt and his lobbyist landlords.

In response, Sierra Club’s Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

“Scott Pruitt has unethically and unlawfully wasted taxpayer dollars on first class flights, an unnecessarily massive security detail, and a sweetheart housing arrangement with a fossil fuel lobbyist, and he knows he can’t justify his scandals, so he’s trying to cover-up his lies and deceit.

"In any other job, failing to provide required information for nearly two months would be grounds for termination. Scott Pruitt should be no exception. It’s well past time to boot Pruitt from the EPA.”
