Washington, D.C. - The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund and the Sierra Club announced today their endorsements of Senator Tammy Baldwin for re-election to the U.S. Senate from Wisconsin.

“The Sierra Club is proud to endorse Senator Tammy Baldwin again,” said Sarah Burton, Sierra Club PAC Director. “From protecting the air we breathe and the water we drink, to protecting our climate, to guaranteeing that Wisconsin’s natural beauty isn’t sold for a quick buck, to creating good-paying clean energy jobs, Senator Baldwin has been a climate champion every step of the way.”

“From day one, Senator Baldwin has been a tireless advocate for Wisconsinites, demanding Washington puts our health and our access to clean air and water before corporate polluters,” said Don Ferber, Sierra Club Wisconsin Chapter Chair. “Wisconsin is proud to have her representing us, and we look forward to working to get her re-elected, just as she has worked for us.”

“Senator Baldwin is a champion for our environment and for our health,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She has been a strong proponent for improving water quality and has fought tirelessly to protect the Great Lakes from big polluters and invasive species. We need Senator Baldwin to continue serving in the Senate, and we are proud to endorse her for re-election.”

“Senator Baldwin has fought to protect the Wisconsin we love, from cleaning up the Great Lakes to defending the water we drink to protecting the places where we hike, hunt, and play with our families,” said Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “We are lucky to have an advocate in Senator Baldwin who isn't afraid to fight for Wisconsin and is willing to work across the political aisle. Our water, air, land, and quality of life are better because Senator Baldwin represents us.”

“Wisconsin has a long and proud conservation tradition and I’m thankful for the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, Sierra Club, and their thousands of members across the state as we continue to build on this legacy of protecting and defending our air, water and land,” said Senator Tammy Baldwin. “From the shores of our Great Lakes to the banks of the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers – and all of our prairies, scenic trails, lakes and streams in between – Wisconsin is home to breathtaking natural beauty and we must all work together to confront today’s challenges and take action to improve the environment.”

Senator Tammy Baldwin is running for her second term representing Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate. In 2012, she made history with her election as the first open LGBTQ U.S. Senator in our country’s history. Baldwin previously served in the U.S. House. During her tenure on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, she helped author and pass the U.S. House’s comprehensive clean energy and climate bill, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. Senator Baldwin has consistently fought for clean air and water, and has been a strong advocate for protecting Wisconsin’s national treasures, including the Great Lakes and the Ice Age Trail. Senator Tammy Baldwin has earned an impressive 97% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard.
