WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, it was reported that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has racked up tens of thousands in taxpayer-funded expenses as he has dragged his extraordinarily large security detail with him around the world. Pruitt’s detail cost taxpayers $30,000 for a trip to Italy, on top of $90,000 for Pruitt’s travel in first class, according to the AP.  Meanwhile, according to the Washington Post, Pruitt’s detail also cost taxpayers even when Pruitt was on personal trips, including time spent at Disneyland and watching the University of Oklahoma Sooners lose in the Rose Bowl.

In response, Sierra Club Resist Campaign Director Maura Cowley released the following statement:

"It is offensive enough that Scott Pruitt wants the taxpayers to fund his luxury travel around the world, but it is downright obscene that Pruitt expects everyone else to cover his expenses when he goes to Disneyland or to watch his favorite football team lose. As he continues to embarrass this administration, Pruitt needs to humble himself by paying taxpayers back the hundreds of thousands of dollars he has wasted and resign before he does any more damage to our wallets and our health."
