Salt Lake City, UT-- On Tuesday, March 20, the Bureau of Land Management will hold an online oil and gas lease auction that will offer parcels adjacent to Utah’s Bears Ears, Hovenweep, and Canyons of the Ancients National Monuments. And in the coming week, the BLM will be holding public meetings to receive scoping comments on the land use planning for Bears Ears National Monument and the Grand Staircase-Escalante region as defined by President Trump’s illegal proclamations.

In response, tribal members and community groups will be speaking out in opposition to the inappropriate parcels slated for sale for oil and gas development and hard rock mining.  The press conference will also address the reckless act by the BLM to rush to act and move forward with land use planning for Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments under Trump’s illegal proclamations while litigation persists.

Where: Utah Bureau of Land Management State Office - 440 W 200 S #500
