Boston, MA -The Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change released an omnibus energy bill today titled An Act to Promote a Clean Energy Future. The bill includes numerous provisions to advance clean energy, and also help communities deal with the effects of climate change. The bipartisan Committee voted unanimously in favor of the bill.
The bill increases offshore wind procurements, eliminates the cap on solar net metering, expands solar access to low income residents, prohibits a “pipeline tax” on ratepayers, requires utilities to pay for the cost of lost and unaccounted for gas, sets 2030 and 2040 emissions limits, and lowers barriers to electric vehicle ownership, and more.

“We applaud the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change for voting out An Act to Promote a Clean Energy Future. This bill is appropriately ambitious and comprehensive, matching the urgency of climate change. Passage of this bill will grow clean energy jobs here in the Commonwealth, stabilize energy prices, improve public health, and demonstrate the leadership our state is known for. We urge the full Senate to pass this bill, and to work with their House counterparts to see full passage this session.”
