Oklahoma City, OK -- Today, E&E News reported that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has repeatedly demanded special treatment with the press and at events. During a tour in which he attempted to sell his attacks on clean air, clean water, public health, and climate safeguards, Pruitt and his team repeatedly demanded that the press be blocked from attending or asking questions or that the public not be permitted to engage. These actions came during the same stretch when Pruitt’s spokesperson threatened to call the police on a reporter for asking questions at an event in a public forum.

In response, Johnson Bridgwater, Oklahoma Sierra Club chapter director released the following statement:

"It has been shown by a careful review of his emails (which I might point out required a judge's order to force him to deliver those emails to us after a two-year Freedom of Information Act request delay) that Scott Pruitt has no ability to think independently- every action and every step and every asset he has, have all been fed to him by the fossil fuel industry. The fact that this individual now runs the EPA is tragic."
