WASHINGTON, D.C. – Groups will gather in front of the Department of the Interior building tomorrow to deliver a message of thankfulness for America’s national parks and a call for Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to abandon plans for a rate hike that could prevent people from continuing to enjoy them. The event takes place the same day as the annual White House turkey pardon.
Under the leadership of Secretary Zinke, the Department of the Interior has proposed raising entry fees at 17 of the most popular national parks in the country, including Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Shenandoah. The proposal could price many people out of our natural wonders at the same time the administration is proposing the largest cut in the Park Service budget since World War II. The public comment period on the proposal closes on Thanksgiving Day.
WHAT: Rally and comment delivery
WHEN: Tuesday, November 21st at 10:00 am
WHERE: Grassy spot across the street from the Department of the Interior building entrance on 1849 C St. NW (south side of street)
