WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Senate Republicans release a regressive tax scheme every bit as bad as the House version.

In response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce released the following statement:

“Congressional Republicans seem determined to blow up the deficit to finance a tax cut for corporate polluters and the richest Americans at the expense of the funding to protect our air, water and outdoor heritage.

“Meanwhile, Big Oil is already bragging that their dirty subsidies are untouched.

“This regressive, fiscally disastrous, tax bonanza for millionaires, billionaires and corporate polluters should be stopped in it’s tracks before it ever gets a chance to leave the station.”
