WASHINGTON, DC -- Under the leadership of Secretary Zinke, the Department of the Interior has proposed raising entry fees at major national parks across the country. The proposal would hamper the the public’s ability to enjoy our natural wonders at the same time that Zinke is looking to ease access for the fossil fuel industry.

In response Lena Moffitt, senior director of the Sierra Club’s Our Wild America campaign issued the following statement.

“High entry fees will shut the public out of our parks. It’s increasingly clear that time outside is not just a luxury, but central to the health and well-being of our communities. We need to be looking for ways to expand outdoor opportunities for everyone. Instead Zinke is opening doors for drilling and mining at the expense of everyone else and the future of our wild places.”
