San Francisco, CA -- Today, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California struck down Donald Trump and Ryan Zinke’s attempt to delay a commonsense rule designed to limit methane pollution from oil and gas operations on public lands. The rule has already withstood legal attack from industry, as well as an attempted repeal in Congress.

In response, Sierra Club Beyond Dirty Fuels campaign director Kelly Martin released the following statement:

“Once again, the Trump administration has overstepped in its attempts to roll back critical, commonsense environmental protections. These safeguards will help fight climate change and protect public lands and communities, and they are supported by the majority of Americans.

“We will continue to fight back against Donald Trump’s reckless and unlawful attacks on our air and water -- and we will continue winning.”
