WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Donald Trump issued his second executive order targeting immigrants and refugees from Muslim majority countries.
In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:
"America was founded as a refuge for those seeking asylum from persecution and prejudice, a country that welcomed the poor, the tired, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free -- but that means nothing to Donald Trump as he pursues his mean-spirited agenda with his second Muslim ban. Trump’s continued discrimination against Muslims and refugees seeks to take our country down a dangerous path ruled by fear instead of compassion.
“The Sierra Club stands in solidarity with Muslims, refugees, immigrants, people of color, women, and all those threatened by Trump’s administration, and we will continue to make our voices heard. Protecting our communities and our environment go hand-in-hand, and everyone who values a just and free America should continue to resist hateful actions like this one."
