WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the League of Conservation Voters released its landmark annual scorecard of voters, which registered a low score of Senator Bernie Sanders due to his presence on the Presidential campaign trail last year.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

"The LCV scorecard is a critically important barometer that shows where our Senators and Representatives stand when it comes to protecting our air, our water, our lands, and our climate. Of course, there is no question where Senator Sanders stands: he is one of the strongest voices for environmental protection, clean energy, and climate action not just in the United States Senate, but in the country. As LCV notes, this score is an understandable deviation given that.

"Senator Sanders was taking the call for healthier communities and a healthier planet across the country, bringing millions more into the movement for climate action with his inspiring campaign.”
