WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee is holding a hearing to examine the nomination of U.S. Rep. Tom Price from Georgia to be President-elect Donald Trump’s head of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement:

"Tom Price has clearly shown that he does not have the health of all Americans as a priority, frequently attacking policies that protect women’s health, vowing to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and loudly denying the threats of climate change. He cannot be trusted to protect the health and well-being of American families. We hope Senators hold Rep. Price’s feet to the fire in today’s hearing and recognize that they should oppose Trump’s unfit appointment.”
