WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Mick Mulvaney is being considered to serve as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. The Sierra Club has opposed this nomination. In response, Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement: “Mick Mulvaney’s record and statements show he can’t be trusted to hold the government’s purse strings. After proudly leading the 2011 government shutdown, attempting to strip emergency relief funding from Hurricane Sandy victims, and repeatedly voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act, it would be irresponsible to confirm Mulvaney as Donald Trump’s budget director. In order to preserve the agencies that protect the environment and our health and safety from losing enforcement budgets under Mulvaney’s thumb, Senators should reject this nomination.” ### About the Sierra Club The Sierra Club is America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, with more than 2.7 million members and supporters.
