Scott Pruitt Demuestra de Nuevo Que No Está Ni Preparado Ni Apto para Dirigir la EPA

Washington, DC — La Comisión de Ambiente y Obras Públicas del Senado celebró hoy audiencias para examinar la nominación del procurador general de Oklahoma, Scott Pruitt, para dirigir la Agencia Federal de Protección Ambiental (EPA).

 

Como respuesta, el director ejecutivo del Sierra Club, Michael Brune, emitió la siguiente declaración:

 

“Scott Pruitt ya debería saber que no se acude a una entrevista de trabajo para malgastar el tiempo eludiendo preguntas. Pero hay una razón por la cual hizo hoy tal cosa: no está ni preparado ni es apto para dirigir la Agencia Federal de Protección Ambiental (EPA) ni puede justificar su carrera repleta de ataques contra las protecciones del agua y el aire que se supone que tiene que defender. 

 

“Al distorsionar su historial repetidas veces, fracasó en su intento de asegurar a la comisión y a los norteamericanos que defenderá la salud y la seguridad públicas y no las ganancias de los sucios contaminadores. Dijo que desconoce las estadísticas nacionales de asma, ignoró revisar los datos científicos de la contaminación de plomo en el agua potable y dudó en reconocer que los combustibles fósiles contribuyen al cambio climático. Incluso se olvidó de decir inmediatamente “proteger el ambiente” cuando se le preguntó qué hace el administrador de la EPA. 

 

“Simplemente, Scott Pruitt no está preparado ni es apto para este trabajo. La Comisión de Ambiente y Obras Públicas y todos los senadores que se preocupen por sus votantes deben defender a la comunidades de todo el país y oponerse a esta nominación”.

 

 

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee is held a hearing to examine the nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to be U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator.

 

In response, Michael Brune, Sierra Club’s Executive Director, released the following statement:

 

“Scott Pruitt should know by now that you don’t go to a job interview and spend the whole time dodging questions. But there’s a reason he did that all day today: he’s unfit and unprepared to lead the Environmental Protection Agency and can’t justify his career full of attacks on the clean air and water protections he’s supposed to uphold. 

 

“By regularly misrepresenting his record, he repeatedly failed to ensure the committee and the American people that he would prioritize their health and safety over the profits of dirty polluters. He says he has little knowledge about asthma statistics nationwide, neglected to look at the science behind lead contamination in drinking water, and hesitated to admit that fossil fuels contribute to climate change. He even forgot to immediately say ‘to protect the environment’ when asked to explain what the EPA Administrator’s role is.

 

“Simply put, Scott Pruitt is unprepared and unfit for the job. The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and all Senators who care about their constituents should stand up for communities across the country and oppose this nomination.”
