Houston, TX -- Today, the Texas Tribune reported that Scott Pruitt’s EPA is refusing to publicly share the pollutant levels throughout the region affected by Hurricane Harvey while his agency continues to waive environmental safeguards. There are 449 chemical and toxic facilities and refineries in the 25 counties most affected by the hurricane.

In response, Sierra Club Lone Star Chapter Director Reggie James released the following statement:

“Scott Pruitt is deliberately putting people who have just lost their homes and loved ones in even greater harm while refusing to tell them what dangers they face. The Trump administration has consistently denied well-established climate science and is now withholding crucial information relating to health and safety. This isn’t just irresponsible, it’s downright negligent, and Scott Pruitt should be ashamed of himself. In the wake of Harvey, Donald Trump promised the people of Texas he was with us. Clearly that was just more pollution dumped in our air.”
