Denver, Colorado -- Today, joined by Governor John Hickenlooper and Mayor Michael Hancock, Emerald Exposition announced that Denver has landed the largest outdoor trade show in the world, the Outdoor Retailer Show. This will provide Colorado, and specifically Denver, with a $45 million economic impact to our community. The move highlights the important work that Louis Benitz, the head of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Office and Visit Denver, has done to show off Colorado’s immense potential in hosting Outdoor Retailer here in our great state.

Coloradans overwhelming support promoting the outdoor economy, with 75% of respondents in total support according to the 2017 Conservation West Survey report.

In response, Jim Alexee, Director of the Colorado Sierra Club Chapter, released the following statement:

“Landing the Outdoor Retailer Show exemplifies Colorado’s commitment to our public lands, communities’ health, economic well-being, and environment. This is yet another step in showing how Colorado leads the nation in creating the most friendly environment for our outdoor family.

“This goes to show that Colorado is a leading voice in promoting and protecting our public lands. Coloradans from all backgrounds cherish our public lands. This is visible by who we elect and the policy makers that continue to show the values Coloradans have in our public lands.”
