In Las Vegas, Tuesday November 15, the Sierra Club participated in the "No Hate Debate" rally outside of the Republican Presidential Debate. Sierra Club members and the Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, Battle Born Progress, the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood and Chispa Nevada unified in urging presidential candidates to focus on the substantive issues.
After two hours of rallying and chanting, Delores Huerta spoke to the media and over 100 rally attendees present. Huerta, a prominent and early member of the United Farmworkers of America, spoke to the importance of perspective in addressing progressive issues; connecting climate action to immigration reform and the fight for 15.
Throughout the rally and media event two Sierra Club volunteers were interviewed by the Las Vegas Sun and a Japanese media outlet. Sierra Club volunteers helped with sign in and collection of volunteered data.
