A joint effort with the Ready for 100 efforts in Southeast PA, Solarize Southeast PA consists of neighbors supporting neighbors in the clean energy revolution. As neighbors, they off free solar assessments, one-on-one discussions about your clean energy options, connection to vetted installers at pre-negotiated prices and group discount.
We also have a sub-team, Solarize Montco, meeting monthly on second Tuesdays of each month at 4pm. Contact solarizesepa@gmail.com to join the next meeting.
Commercial Solar in Montgomery County
To date, Montgomery County has over 23 MW of solar across 1718 installations. We'd like to highlight some of the larger installations. If add another large solar installation to our list, please write us.
- 1.5 Megawatt at Merck in Upper Gwynedd
- 1.19 Megawatt at Ikea in Conshohocken
- 676 kilowatt at Colonial School District in Whitemarsh -- The Colonial School District has installations on the elementary school, middle school as well as the high school, totaling 676 kW. Per the 2011 press release by Tangent Energy Systems, this will generate 825,000 kWh annually, reduce greenhouse gases by 1.2 million pounds each year, and save the school district $1.5 million over 20 years. By the way, Tangent Energy Systems is based locally, in Kennett Square.
- 583 kilowatt at Lower Moreland Township School District, with installations on the elementary school, middle school as well as the high school.
